Our programs
At the SUSO Foundation, every program helps young people show up with confidence and show out with purpose. We bring learning to life through hands-on, culturally rich, and purpose-driven experiences that build leadership and self-worth.
The legacy bus
An immersive mobile learning experience. The Legacy Bus is a classroom on wheels — a mobile, VR-powered space that takes students on journeys through African American history and culture. Youth can virtually walk through pivotal moments, meet changemakers, and experience truth in motion.
Truth tours
Experience the real story, together. Truth Tours are guided trips to museums, landmarks, and cultural sites that highlight the strength and brilliance of Black history. Students learn beyond the textbook — connecting lessons of the past to leadership today.
Leadership & entrepreneurship labs
Turning ideas into action. These Labs teach young people to lead, innovate, and create. Through mentorship, workshops, and hands-on projects, participants learn real-world leadership and business skills — preparing them for success in school, work, and life.
The Ripple Initiative
💬 Purpose
The Ripple Initiative is built on the belief that cultural enlightenment is not one-sided. While SUSO empowers Black and Brown youth to rise confidently in a world that may not always understand them, this program also invites others to learn who we are — to replace bias with understanding and ignorance with truth.
Each conversation, each shared story, and each open heart becomes a ripple that moves us closer to unity.
🌍 Program Elements
-
Dialogue Circles: Guided sessions that bring together diverse youth and adults for open conversations on race, history, and identity.
-
Collaborative Learning Projects: Partner schools or organizations from different communities to learn together through creative, truth-based activities.
-
Cultural Discovery Days: Hands-on events highlighting African American contributions to art, science, innovation, and leadership.
-
Ripple Ambassadors: Participants who complete the program become peer advocates for understanding and equality in their schools and neighborhoods.
🎯 Goals
-
Build empathy and trust across racial and cultural lines.
-
Create safe, educational spaces for truth-based discussion.
-
Inspire participants to take what they’ve learned and share it within their communities.
-
Transform dialogue into tangible change — one ripple at a time.
